Dear Evan You should have noticed my point that the cost of BCD is higher by 30 to 50% than that is available in the net when i browse for planning my route and then where is the logic of going around the world for extra 8 hours ? I normally do the homework of shortest time possible and send them the detail. They come up with their suggestions which is neither shorter duration nor cost effective. All my three trips were done nearer the travel (by BCD matrix and not my fault) and assured that the meal instruction were there - yes the last time i insured with the airline - . When ever travel agents book tickets -meal is crucial factor they ask and do it- This is my experience of last twenty years of average 6 times travel abroad using my agency ! vivek Dr.V.C.Vivekanandan Ministry of HRD IP Chair Professor NALSAR University of Law 3-5-874/18 Apollo Hospital Lane, Hyderguda,-Hyderabad- 500029 Adjunct Visiting Professor, University of Buffalo Business School, New York ALAC Asia Pacific Member ICANN (Internet Corporation of Assigned Names & Numbers) Ph:+91-40-23210170 Mobile-+91-9866050494 vivek@nalsarpro.org,personal:vivekvc2001@yahoo.co.in ________________________________ From: Evan Leibovitch <evan@telly.org> To: vivek anannd <vivekvc2001@yahoo.co.in> Cc: Alan Greenberg <alan.greenberg@mcgill.ca>; ALAC Working List <alac@atlarge-lists.icann.org> Sent: Fri, 23 July, 2010 6:37:17 PM Subject: Re: [ALAC] Revised travel policy statement Hi Vivek, On 23 July 2010 02:37, vivek anannd <vivekvc2001@yahoo.co.in> wrote: 4.The routing done by them is to criss-cross - e.g. They asked me to fly from

Clearly, travel time is less important to them than cost to ICANN. I would only note here that -- *sometimes* -- flying west to fly east is not always the longer total travel time. If the waiting time between flights at the more logical airport is too long, the "illogical" routing can actually be faster. Other
travails are many - Every time i will tell them for Vegetarian Food and all the times it was not made except in the last trip where i had to remind them few times - They had given the instruction as Vegan !
This is not unique to ICANN, and beyond its capacity to fix. *Never* trust travel agents to properly register your: - seat selection - meal choice - frequent flyer number These can (and should) usually be double checked with the airline almost immediately after the booking is made. A growing number of airlines can do this online. - Evan
