ATLAS II Recommendation 40
Dear ALAC members, The ATLAS II Implementation Task Force is actively following up on the ATLAS II Recommendations contained in the At-Large Declaration drafted during the second At-Large Summit that took place in London in June 2014. I would like to draw your attention to Recommendation 40: Ref. https://community.icann.org/x/dJZCAw ICANN should offer a process similar to the Community Regional Outreach Pilot Program (CROPP), but applicable to short lead-time budget requests not related to travel. The ATLAS II IT, and Outreach & Engagement working group and the ALAC Finance and Budget Sub-Committee expanded the recommendation and made requests. The current status is a follows: Starting from FY17, members of the Regional At-Large Organizations (RALOs) have access to a discretionary fund of $10,000 USD <https://community.icann.org/download/attachments/54696459/Access-by-RALOs-for-funding-of-local-engagement-activitiesRev2-aghu.docx?version=1&modificationDate=1455748229000&api=v2>-- managed by the regional teams of ICANN’s Global Stakeholder Engagement (GSE) Department -- to organize local outreach and engagement activities about ICANN policy issues. Those activities include presentations and brown bag lunches held by professional speakers at a minimum cost. Each RALO can receive up to $2,000USD from the GSE and use it to cover travel, meals, promotions, and other expenses related to the events. For complete transparency and proper oversight, the regional GSE teams review RALOs’ budget requests through a defined process. My suggestion is that the ALAC brings this topic up to the F2F meeting with the GSE Team in Hyderabad. Any objections? Kindest regards, Olivier
Olivier: No objection at all. I will try to be there during that discussion. -ed On Fri, Oct 7, 2016 at 10:30 AM Olivier MJ Crepin-Leblond <ocl@gih.com> wrote:

Hello Olivier, My +1 to this. On a separate note, I think Fadi did indicate that certain amount would be made available in case of emergencies (think it was 10k as well). Perhaps the scope can be expanded to cover the one indicated here and the figure jerked up to fit. I am not sure that this figure was actually taken into account. There is an ICANN-wide contingency fund but that's not it. Whether what Fadi said was actually translated to a real action items and is available is yet to be verified. Thanks for pointing it out. Kindest regards, Olivier
