Greetings to you all, It was indeed a delight to have such a successful and productive meeting (which I suspect is partially a product of it being face to face) but it will no doubt have energised us all to continue our work online and in teleconference, with both greater focus and purpose, and I?m looking forward to our next teleconference this Thursday (tomorrow). As stated at our meeting ISOC-AU is very keen to serve in any capacity which results in a good regional balance, strong representation and effective advocacy for the A-P At Large community via the APRALO into ALAC/ICANN policy and processes. And to this end similarly to PICISOC we were intending to offer our nomination for any of the APRALO management positions. The benefits that Izumi's continuity of service will bring to the Global ALAC, on our behalf, at this time is absolutely clear to us, and ISOC-AU supports his nomination (and confirmation in the absence of any election) as ALAC representative from AP region, wholeheartedly. Because of the important work to be done (in such a short time frame) and the transitional issues affecting the Global ALAC, so clearly outlined by Izumi in his nomination email, ISOC-AU now believes that some of our own extensive experience (through the representational work done on our behalf by our Director Cheryl Langdon-Orr and President Tony Hill in the .au Domain Name arena) may prove useful to the APRALO if we were to nominate for the remaining position of ALAC representative from AP region as a higher preference to the APRALO management roles? To that end please note: - 1. The nomination of Cheryl Langdon-Orr for ALAC representative from AP region. 2. Our continued willingness to serve (and therefore nominate only where the role has not been nominated for/filled by another ALS) in preference order for the management roles of: - i) Secretariat ii) Vice Chair. I have also provided as a .PDF attachment some background material with links for your further information on individual consumer and small and micro business interest representation in Telecommunications and Domain Name specific work done on behalf of ISOC-AU by me over the last few years. Kindest Regards, Cheryl Langdon-Orr Director / Honarary Treasurer ISOC-AU Quoting David Farrar <david@farrar.com>:
With regards to InternetNZ, I would firstly comment that personally I am very supportive of Izumi continuing on the ALAC, and believe some continuity is desirable.
As said in Bali, we are happy to serve anywhere we can be of use, or not at all. The preference would be at the second ALAC rep with Izumi as we've got a lot of experience in dealing with ICANN policy issues, and being an effective advocate on behalf of others.

After internal consultations with respect to APRALO elections, I would like to submit PICISOC's interest in fielding a candidate to contest/assume one of the following positions, listed in order of preference:
(i) Chair (ii) Vice-Chair (iii) Secretariat
We feel other ALS' are better placed for ALAC Representative positions and thus do not wish to contest those. Our candidate will be Rajnesh Singh.
Regards, R.

Dear all,
It was so nice to have very productive meeting last week in Bali. I thank you all for your great contribution and collaboration.
Now, after thinking several times and also consulted with my colleagues, I would like to submit my intention to become candidates for the following position: ALAC representative from AP region.
My idea is that in order to preserve some contintuity, given that Hong is not going to run and Siavash will be endig his term at the next ICANN AGM in November, I would like to serve for the position. My intention is to be selected as the shorter, one-year term (max), and aim to make as smooth transition as possible.
There are several subject matters ALAC must respond to rather quickly, on the table now: Domain tasting, Registerfly, whois, IDN, new gTLD Ombudsman Report, gNSO Review/LSE Recommendation and coming ALAC External Review
I am particularly interested in the area of Domain tasing, Ombudsman, gNSO review and ALAC review.
Global ALAC itself is also facing the rapid transition, as new RALOs are coming up from LAC to EU to Africa, making some stability is important.
Besides above policy issues, many other issues and topics will arise as ICANN enters into new fiscal year from July: ALAC/ICANN budget, IGF, GAC-ICANN relation, Stratgic Planning/Operation Plan, Board Review, etc.
I am more than happy if other colleagues have strong interest for ALAC and pursue these policy issues, but frankly speaking some of them are rather complex and may require some period to get accuanted where my knowldge and experience on ALAC for such long years may help ;-).
I thank you very much for your warm support and understandings and looking forward to the conference call to facilitate our mutual consensus.
