Thank you for sending this out Pavan and I do hope Vivek might consider serving a second term on the NomCom and of course that others may wish to put themselves forward... However I beg to differ with the last part of the proposed methodology in your email where it is proposed a vote within APRALO would be utilized if there are several nominees... You see as it is ALAC that appoints and that as a way pf involving APRALO in that asks for any recommendations we might wish to make... ALAC can ( and has in the past appoint outside of any recommendation(s) made by a Region and so I would propose that any and all names of nominees we wish to out forward to the ALAC are just sent on to the Chair of the ALAC rather than have any 'regional vote to reduce a list of greater than one nominee... And we also need to note that ALAC could still appoint someone we have not put forward should they wish to.... Dear All,
The At Large Advisory Committee (ALAC) appoints, in consultation with APRALO, a representative from APRALO to serve on the ICANN Nominating Committee (NomCom ; *http://nomcom.icann.org/*).
Such representatives of the NomCom are appointed for a one year term, and may be re-appointed for a further term of one year subject to the requirement under the ICANN By Laws that a such a representative may only serve a maximum of two consecutive years.
While APRALO does not formally elect a representative to the NomCom, APRALO has to submit to ALAC a list of all accepted regional nominations for the NomCom position and may also make (as usual) a recommendation of a preferred candidate to the ALAC. The representative from Asia Pacific to the NomCom was Vivek Vivekandan. He is eligible for re-election. Any representative from an accredited ALS can be a delegate and needs to understand the obligations and requirements for Nominating Committee members: * https://community.icann.org/x/gIMi*
The deadline for the submission of nominations to be considered as a delegate from APRALO to the Nominating Committee is July 25, 2011. If there are more than one accepted nomination after the deadline, then an electronic vote would be held to select a preferred APRALO delegate to the Nominating Committee.
