Dear Izumi, Sorry for my late reply as I'm still catching up with email from the last month+ ( long story, but I've had a long brush with COVID but back online today). I'll write something tonight. I hope that my flowers reached Toru's memorial. p. On Mon, Jun 5, 2023 at 1:15 PM Izumi AIZU <iza@anr.org> wrote:
Hi, As the date of the memorial meeting at InterOp is coming close, could you please consider sharing your words for Toru, from the link below (if not done yet).
So far, four people made the contributions.
Thank you again,
izumi

A Farewell Meeting is planned by Jun Murai and Toru's friends to take place on June 15, during the InterOp Tokyo 2023, as Toru was the sole host of the first InterOp Tokyo in 1994.
You are most welcome to attend in person, or send messages here: https://forms.gle/zBsUi537CxsREihVA
I will compile them and pass them to the meeting host.
Date: June 15, 2023 Time: 18:30 - 20:00 Venue: Hotel New Otani Makuhari, Lapis room, 2nd Floor Fee: 10,000 Yen (Please pay at the door)
A registration form in Japanese is prepared below: https://frm.f2ff.jp/form/0615form/
As many of you know, Toru was instrumental to diffuse the Internet in Japan and many Asian countries. He was the Chairperson of the Japan Internet Association, Chair of the Executive Council of the APNIC, and President of Tokyo Internet (ISP), and generously supported the AP* organization activities including APRICOT, APIA, APTLD, and AP* annual retreats. He was one of the most active members of the global Internet policy and governance activities from Asia Pacific in the 1990s and 2000s.
His life is described here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toru_Takahashi_(Internet) https://blog.apnic.net/2023/03/02/vale-toru-takahashi-1941-2022/
