NEW ALS - 307 Internet Society Rural Development Special Interest Group
Dear APRALO, Please find the DD for a new ALS - 307 Internet Society Rural Development Special Interest Group. Do have your comments ready by the 15th of September since I have to return the regional advice to Staff by the 16th September for ALAC vote. Thanks! Pavan Budhrani
Hi Pawan,Normally a SIG in ISOC is not restricted by geographic or regional boundaries. While the applicant is from the region, many of the current office bearers of the SIG are located in other parts of the globe.Perhaps these aspects would be evaluated before deciding on the request.Regards Amrita -------- Original message --------From: Pavan Budhrani <pavan@dot.asia> Date: 9/12/19 6:29 AM (GMT+05:30) To: apac-discuss@atlarge-lists.icann.org Subject: [APAC-Discuss] NEW ALS - 307 Internet Society Rural Development Special Interest Group Dear APRALO, Please find the DD for a new ALS - 307 Internet Society Rural Development Special Interest Group. Dear All, I support Amrita's point. Usually these Special Interest Groups are not registered in any country, but chartered by the Internet Society. However, it worth checking with them if they are registered in the country of the origin of the applicant. Which is India. If they're registered in india then I see no issue of considering them applicants to ARALO. Best wishes, Nadira On Thu, Sep 12, 2019, 05:04 Amrita <amritachoudhury@ccaoi.in> wrote:

Dear all, One of the criteria for ALSes as per ICANN's Bylaws is: (B) * who are citizens or residents of countries within the Geographic Region of the RALO will predominate in the operation of each At-Large Structure within the RALO*, while not necessarily excluding additional participation, compatible with the interests of the individual Internet users within the region, by others. We need to determine if the applicant fulfills this criterion. Requesting Staff to determine (a) the legal status of the applicant, and (b) if they fulfil the above (and all other) criteria for ALSes. With kind regards, satish On Thu, Sep 12, 2019 at 9:59 AM Nadira Alaraj <nadira.araj@gmail.com> wrote:
