Hi Cheryl,
It appears to me to that it now falls to Beau and Robert,(the NARALO elected representative) to format and present specific wording that they believe better represent the NARALO view on this matter... For ALAC consideration for inclusion... You now have that. Robert has offered this specific wording (I have made one minor grammatical fix):
"1. Though well intentioned when first created, the AGP is the primary cause that the tasting issue exists. 2. ALAC , and the RALOS firmly believe that the AGP is not currently serving the public interest and as such it should be removed from all agreements." I fully concur with the above wording, as well as the changes Jacqueline has suggested, which are to 1) delete the sentence "Although much At Large focus has been on the complete elimination of the AGP, the ALAC recognizes that this may be difficult and/or time-consuming to do." 2) Change "prefers" to "advocates" Together these changes substantially strengthen the document, and better reflect real public sentiment on the issue. On behalf of NARALO I ask ALAC to endorse them. I fully understand that negotiation, compromise and partial measures may be required to provide temporary relief of the issue. However, as I (and many others) have said, it is important that ALAC's initial statement be a clear indication of what it considers to be the ultimate public good. Thank you, Evan Leibovitch Chair, NARALO
