Shouldn't the ALAC issue a statement ?
It couldn't hurt. This is yet another ill-advised foray into politics by the Mormon church. (Americans will recall their recent support of the anti-gay Proposition 8 in California.) Its basic problem is that it utterly misunderstands what ICANN does and can do, starting with their loony "zoning" proposal to force porn sites to use TCP port 81 rather than port 80. This content censorship is technically ill-advised, impossible to enforce, and in the US where ICANN is incorporated would almost certainly fail on legal grounds. I don't often agree with Milt Mueller, but in this case he's quite right that single issue pressure groups don't belong in the GNSO. http://www.theregister.co.uk/2009/03/18/mormons_icann/ R's, John
