Hello all. During the recent NARALO conference call, the issue of At-Large travel funding came up. It's my understanding that the status quo (ALAC and RALO chairs/secretariats funded to attend ICANN meetings) will be maintained until the end of the current fiscal year, we've already been put on notice that changes to the policy are in the works. As a reminder, the last word from Denise (see http://atlarge-lists.icann.org/pipermail/at-large_atlarge-lists.icann.org/20...) indicates ongoing consultations in advance of a new policy being developed. I would prefer that At-Large not be blindsided by travel policy development; while we are two ICANN meetings away from year end, what has ALAC done to ensure that resources will not be reduced for the next fiscal year and beyond? Of course, this whole issue is a symptom of a lager, more general issue. What is ALAC doing to assert more of a say in how ICANN's substantial At-Large budget is allocated? No offense to existing statff, but as far as I know At-Large was never consulted on whether more staff was a wiser use of funds than increased support of the volunteer community. As NARALO considers discussing this issue at its General Assembly during the Summit, what are ALAC and other regions doing? - Evan
