Dear Bill, thank you for this update. Good to hear this was an unfortunate mistake. Kindest regards, Olivier On 11/10/2014 09:20, William Drake wrote:
Hi
The ill-chosen wording has been pointed out to the WEF and the text has been changed. It now says "a multistakeholder endeavour to stimulate more cross-industry and cross-ministry strategic dialogue on ways to strengthen multistakeholder Internet governance and cooperation.” This is a separate track of activity from the NMI/platform for collaborative projects.

I am sure it is a mistake But can we be the one to bit them? We are not able to make difference between international (inter nation) and global. We need to ask WEF an updated text. But we need to be tolerant with new comers ;) All the best Sébastien Bachollet +33 6 07 66 89 33 Blog: http://sebastien.bachollet.fr/ Mail: Sébastien Bachollet <sebastien@bachollet.com>

Dear Olivier,
World Economic Forum can not possibly go with any plans to exclude Business from Internet Governance; If it does not exclude Business, it would have a hard time explaining why it includes Business and not Civil Society nor the Technical Community.
As of now, the World Economic Forum is half way into the Multi-Stakeholder process by talking about a "Public - Private partnership". For Internet Governance it would at least call for a public private partnership, and with some efforts, the Forum's outlook could get more evolved into a multi-stakeholder thinking.
What needs to be done at this stage is to make sure that the 2500 participants include a good number of stakeholders other than Government and Business.

Dave,
Here is a piece from a press release <http://www.weforum.org/news/world-economic-forum-annual- meeting-2015-address-new-global-context?news=page> by the World Economic Forum (WEF) regarding their plan to ³build a broad-based, multilateral global architecture for governing the internet² that might be interesting to the IP readership.
Excerpt below:
³The Annual Meeting 2015 will provide a platform for over 50 initiatives that are currently being led by the Forum, with the aim of contributing positive, transformative change to the global agenda, as well as those of industry, business and the world¹s regions. These include a public-private initiative to help achieve zero net tropical deforestation caused by key agricultural commodities by 2020; an endeavour to build a broad-based, multilateral global architecture for governing the internet; and the Forum¹s Gender Parity Taskforces, which work with governments worldwide to improve economic opportunity for the female half of the population.²
