Sometimes strategies such as those suggested will work, and sometimes they will not. But regardless, micro-managing at this level is not particularly productive. I think that two things are relatively clear: 1. ALAC has a problem with the lack of regular and significant contribution of too many of its members; 2. Despite the best of intentions and plans, real life will ALWAYS occasionally get in the way of ALAC duties (and this would be true even if ALAC membership were a paid job).
