Robert there is nothing in the ROP's (this is part of the version aspects prepared by yourself for the subcommittee) that stops any one being an Officer and an Liaison (unlike the original Draft document from Vittorio). Alan raised this during our review process and again yesterday on list ... and for everyone's information the new ROP's state that Officers i.e. Chair, Vice Chairs (n=2) and Rapporteur MUST be serving ALAC Members at the time of the election, but Liaisons (where we reached consensus that being able to draw from a wider group including past members of the ALAC AND the Community at large- thereby giving us *greater diversity* was the rationale for this change and it was as you no doubt remember also contested in the proposal for edit on the ROP's put forward by Sébastien before San Juan)... And allowing Liaisons who were past ALAC members, such as Wendy to serve in such key roles on our behalf. Other Appointments by the way require the same eligibility criteria as Liaisons as well but are not subject to the formal election process. So holding concurrent positions as an Officer and a Liaison is quite valid. As to effectively working as both, and operating on behalf of the ALAC to the best of any individuals ability, when we have so much to do this next 12 months and what time demands that would make- Only you can know, and the voters decide. If you wish to serve as both and *not* wish to relinquish SSAC where there is no contest for you to continue in the role and therefore certainty maintaining the position, then we need to know ASAP as our deadline (Oct 14), rapidly approaches for the close of these nominations, and someone else may indeed be interested in contesting the role of SSAC (as well as any other position)... My preference is to still continue as SSAC liaison as I find involvement and engagement with then to be most rewarding. Should it be possible to concurrently also be one of the vice-chairs, then i'd accept. However, if I can only hold one of the positions - then my preference would be SSAC. So do I accept Alan's nomination - well, let me defer .. I first require clarification on the status of holding more then one position. regards, Robert --- Robert Guerra <rguerra@privaterra.ca> Managing Director, Privaterra Tel +1 416 893 0377 On 10-Oct-07, at 12:42 AM, Alan Greenberg wrote:
