Hi Nick, It looks to be a great idea. However, if the mails from other ALSs could be clearly differentiated in order to avoid confusing it with the regional emails, it would be great. That could be done either by having a specific insertion in the subject or a separate email id for such mails. I guess that way we all would also be able to discuss any international issues at regional/internal level before presenting our view to other committees, if we wish to contribute on an issue which has international ramifications. As you may have noticed, posts from the ALAC Committee's list are flowing through to the ALS lists in each region. This is in order to help the community see and understand the work of the ALAC, and allow the community more of a seamless opportunity to engage with committee discussions, either on a regional or international basis. This is a bit of an experiment - it may be that the additional email load becomes too large and that some or all regions may wish to simply keep the regional list for regional issues, and have individuals interested in following and participating in the discussions with ALAC to join the ALAC list for that purpose. At the moment, the flow of emails is one-way - from the ALAC list to the regional lists - and replies sent to the ALAC list don't go through, and the ALAC list currently allows for the committee members to post, but all other subscribers are moderated, making the ALAC list sort-of a fishbowl. We can of course change any of these arrangements if that is the community's wish and have the ALAC become a 'global conversation' with the committee, with the -Announce lists reserved for announcements. Each region's -Discuss list is unchanged and remains devoted to regional discussions. As you all know, the fact that the At-Large community has control of the configuration of its communications is still a relatively new phenomenon, so we will have to make up the structure you want as we go along. -- Regards, Nick Ashton-Hart PO Box 32160 London N4 2XY United Kingdom UK Tel: +44 (20) 8800-1011 USA Tel: +1 (202) 657-5460 Fax: +44 (20) 7681-3135 mobile: +44 (7774) 932798 Win IM: ashtonhart@hotmail.com / AIM/iSight: nashtonhart@mac.com / Skype: nashtonhart Online Bio: https://www.linkedin.com/in/ashtonhart FESTIVE GREETINGS!
