Dear Sal@: The 1st of May is International Workers Day in my country (Argentina). It is a day of struggle and a tribute to the Martyrs of Chicago. These unionists anarchists were executed in the United States for his part in the days of struggle for the order of the eight-hour workday, which originated in the strike that began on May 1, 1886 and its hot spot was three days later, May 4, in the Haymarket Riot. Today is a holiday revindication of the rights of workers in general, and is celebrated in many countries. -- *Sergio Salinas Porto Presidente Internauta Argentina Asociación Argentina de Usuarios de Internet <http://www.internauta.org.ar/>/CTA <http://www.ctamdq.org.ar/> FLUI- Federación Latinoamericana de Usuarios de Internet <http://www.fuilain.org/> facebook:salinasporto twitter:sergiosalinas MSN/MSN YAHOO/Talk: salinasporto... According to Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Labour_Day) we seem to be the only ones that celebrate it on the first Monday in September. Most other countries later in the year or typically May 1.
In this case, it is not pride in British spellings that caused me to say that "Labour" is the correct spelling. The concept of celebrating labour started in Canada and was emulated by the US (although it is unclear which made it a federal holiday first).

[I had initially inserted the "u" and removed it since I thought it was American but now that I know it also is Canadian and probably also celebrated in alot of the world...very happily like "labour"]

Labor Day is celebrated today in the US, but I hasten to point out that Labour Day (with Labour spelled the correct way) is celebrated today in Canada.

Dear All,
I was reminded by someone in an email today that it is Labor Day in the US. I looked it up in Wikipedia and it says that *Labor Day* is an American federal holiday< http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Federal_holidays_in_the_United_States> observed on the first Monday in September (September 3 in 2012) that celebrates the economic and social contributions of workers. [ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Labor_Day] I would like to wish all members of At Large Worldwide a Happy Labor Day as I reflect on the massive economic and social contributions you make and continue to make for the greater good and in the name of global public interest as volunteers is indeed powerful and significant.
I wish both the Staff and volunteers a very Happy Labor day!
Kind Regards,
