Hi Thomas, Speaking personally (and as part of the Summit WG), I certainly do appreciate your comments. The reason why you may not have seen much conversation happening here is because we have another list for Summit discussions so as not to clutter people's in-boxes. If you wish to participate, just sign up here: http://atlarge-lists.icann.org/mailman/listinfo/summit-wg_atlarge-lists. icann.org All discussion has been happening on this list and documents have been produced and sent into ICANN. You should check out the materials that we have come up with! Hope this helps, D Darlene A. Thompson Community Access Program Administrator Nunavut Department of Education/N-CAP c/o P.O. Thanks Carlos, Excellent point. What documents would the Summit Working Group like me to share with the Board for that discussion?
Let me suggest that this topic not be brought up at the board level until the ALAC has properly documented what it hopes to achieve at such a summit, how that plays into its long-range strategy, and how the summit would serve to jump start future efforts, etc. As pointed out at the LA meeting, the cost for such a summit appears to be quite large, and ALAC will need to make a compelling case that the money would be a prudent investment and would have lasting impact that goes beyond a single meeting. I raise this simply because I have not seen much discussion about the summit here and have not seen any materials yet, so I'm wondering if it's premature to bring the topic up at the board level. Note: I am not trying to discourage discussion of the topic. But tactically, I would not engage the board until you are properly ready to do so. If you raise the topic, be ready to respond to the expected questions.
