Volunteers for Front Running drafting group
In my report of May 12th, I asked for volunteers for a GNSO drafting team on Front Running. I have had no comments to date, and I understand the entire process has not really gotten off the ground yet. It is unclear if the deadline will or can be extended (there is a GNSO meting on Thursday when that may come up). I am unable to participate with the current deadline. If there any others who are up to speed on this subject, please let me know. Alan
The GNSO Council resolved, on 8 May 2008, to create a Front Running drafting team to look at questions such as: - How is the problem defined? - How prevalent is the problem? - Will the measures relating to domain tasting affect front running? - Are there rules within the RAA that can be used? The goal is to bring a recommendation to the council on whether to request an Issues report or more extensive research effort and to define the terms of the report. This team should bring its report by 7 June 2008 in time for deliberations in Paris or sooner if possible. Team is open to constituency members. Liaisons are invited to participate

Background: The ALAC submitted a letter to the ICANN Board requesting it 'to establish a temporary narrowly-tailored policy as a stopgap until such time as the relevant policy-recommending ICANN Supporting Organisations can provide a comprehensive consensus policy solution' <http://gnso.icann.org/mailing-lists/archives/council/msg04857.html > The ICANN Board's disposition was that <http://www.icann.org/minutes/prelim-report-27mar08.htm > "The Chair determined that emergency action is not required today but the matter will be referred to the GNSO for additional information or policy development if necessary, but not an emergency action."
I thank you all for your input. Bret Fausett will be participating on behalf of ALAC/At-Large. Alan At 27/05/2008 10:52 AM, Alan Greenberg wrote:
