Good news indeed. I am happy to report that our ALS, ISOC Luxembourg, will soon start discussing similar measures with the ccTLD for .lu, together with the registry and the Data Protection Authority. The goal is to have the whois service to comply with EU privacy regulations (see http://ec.europa.eu/justice_home/fsj/privacy/docs/wpdocs/2003/wp76_en.pdf ).
