Re: [At-Large] Net Providers to Block Sites With Child Sex
Michele and all, You must have missed or misunderstood the article and it's intent. Content was not the main thrust, nor blocking "Content". What WAS the main thrust was blocking web sites that contain/have content that includes or is all about promoting Child pornography. Blocking Domain names that are associated in any way with Child Porn are easily blocked, and more appropriately should be taken down, as well as the Registrar and Regestry that are responsible for such, be either put out of business by ICANN via revoking their accreditation, or any user of a mind to, file a 18 USC 2703 criminal complaint requesting the court to have owners of those web sites banned from use of the internet in perpetuity, and the Registry and Registrar have their business license suspended indefinitely. Frankly Michele, I am agast at your seemingly "Care Less" attitude towards this growing illegal activity. Perhaps in your country, Ireland, such activity is not considered a very important one. However given recent reports in the news from your country, your PM's pub hopping and money laundering activities, has distracted him from taking a responsible leadership position to this global problem in Ireland. If so, indeed the populace of Ireland are being ill served accordingly and have my deepest sorrow. ICANN failing to take direct and immediate action regarding the existence of web sites/Domain Names that promote Child pornography is in effect aiding and abetting such activity at the detriment to users everywhere. Such lack of immediate attention to immediately address such activity should never be considered in the manner to which ICANN has thus far sense 1999, taken. ICANN appears to be coddling their own Registries and Registrars in continuing to ignore this disgusting and illegal activity. We, and I have for some years routinely reported these web sites to federal LEA's in accordance with procedure established in 2003. We shall continue to do so. I and my company block access and transmission of such web sites and associated domain names trafficking in Child Pornography, Phishing, and other forms of Spam/UCE. We shall continue to do so. -----Original Message-----

Blocking access to content is a messy and dangerous area to get into.
Several of the EU governments have been "playing" with filtering for some time and from an ISP perspective it's a really nasty can of worms.
