Net Providers to Block Sites With Child Sex
All, See: http://www.nytimes.com/2008/06/10/nyregion/10internet.html?_r=1&oref=slogin Also see Lauren Weinstine's take here: http://lauren.vortex.com/archive/000389.html and here: http://lauren.vortex.com/archive/000390.html Perhaps some government officials are more effective than others. and just as perhaps, in this one particular instance some good and wholsome progress will be effectively made. I certainly hope so, as I for one am very tired in recieveing this sort of nonsense unsolicited from the dispicable trafficers in it. Unfortunately ICANN and especially it's registries and registrars under contract to ICANN and the DOC/NTIA have been rather lacking in addressing this sort of disgusting nonsense sense ICANN's conception despite repeated calls from various participants, most especially myself. Kudo's to Atty. Gen. Cuomo in NY. Perhaps even the ISOC-NY will join in in assisting Atty. Gen. Cuomo in their home state in promoting and insisting this program/effort be adopted. Perhaps ISOC France will as well, but somehow I doubt it. Now if we can only get the ICANN Bod to mandate some changes in it's RAA contracts with Registries and Registrars whom are effectively aiding and abetting Child Pornography trafficers and hoisting same upon unwitting users everywhere. I hope this will make the Agenda in the upcomming ICANN meeting in Cairo, but somehow I rather doubt it... Regards, Spokesman for INEGroup LLA. - (Over 281k members/stakeholders strong!) Blocking access to content is a messy and dangerous area to get into. Several of the EU governments have been "playing" with filtering for some time and from an ISP perspective it's a really nasty can of worms. -- Mr Michele Neylon Blacknight Solutions Hosting & Colocation, Brand Protection http://www.blacknight.com/ http://blog.blacknight.com/ Tel. 1850 929 929 Intl. +353 (0) 59 9183072 Direct Dial: +353 (0)59 9183090 Fax. +353 (0) 1 4811 763 ------------------------------- Blacknight Internet Solutions Ltd, Unit 12A,Barrowside Business Park,Sleaty Road,Graiguecullen,Carlow,Ireland Company No.: 370845
