Izumi san, Would like to hear your own views on how much of a crisis this issue is (when ipv4 runs out), if it is one/will be one. Also your views on how it will affect developing countries (like China, India, most of Asia, Africa where current internet penetration is quite low and most of future growth in devices will be) And how we (developing countires) can influence the discussions/processes so that their 'users' don't suffer for want of ip numbers... Izumi san,
Would like to hear your own views on how much of a crisis this issue is (when ipv4 runs out), if it is one/will be one.
The straight answer is no one really knows. Some want to say No, no problem, we will, or it will be managed. My take is, people will eventually move to prepare, so there will be some trobule still remain, but largely OK, BUT, this is based on the assumption that people will make greate efforrts, not that automatic. Hence the need for awarenss building.
Also your views on how it will affect developing countries (like China, India, most of Asia, Africa where current internet penetration is quite low and most of future growth in devices will be)
It will largely depend on how they are dependent on Internet, China have more users than any country, and Internet largely built in and used in their economic, governmental and other social activities. While some other LDCs have little use of Internet - but still affected. There will be a talk from Africa about this.
And how we (developing countires) can influence the discussions/processes so that their 'users' don't suffer for want of ip numbers...
Let's discuss about that - there is no ready-made answer to that... izumi

Thanks for the offer - am not sure if that be the case - I think there will be many questions, but what I am afraid is to go too much on technical details and/or drag into the "past history" - so any questions steering away from these pit holes and bring attention to possible, positive and needed actions. izumi 2007/11/12, Jacqueline A.
