Re: [At-Large] Apply for ICANN leadership positions (Nominating Committee)
I note the wording on http://www.icann.org/en/announcements/announcement-13nov09-en.htm "Interested individuals are invited to submit a Statement of Interest to the 2010 NomCom for the following positions: * Three members of the Board of Directors of ICANN * Two At Large Advisory Committee (ALAC) representatives (one each from the European and North American regions) etc etc So, the road to ALAC selection still runs through the NomCom? joly On Mon, Feb 22, 2010 at 3:32 AM, Adam Peake <ajp@glocom.ac.jp> wrote:

To the extent that it has always been true for 5 out of the 15 ALAC members, this was re-affirmed by the recent ALAC Review. Alan At 02/03/2010 02:52 PM, Joly MacFie wrote:

For one-third of ALAC the answer is yes.
From each region, two ALAC representatives are elected by ALSs and one is appointed by the NomComm. The reason that only two are up for selection is because of the position's two-year term.

Do we get to know who the NonCom candidates are, chance to comment, before the selection process? Excuse me for ignorance. If there is a good RTFM ref, please supply. j On Tue, Mar 2, 2010 at 5:25 PM, Evan Leibovitch <evan@telly.org> wrote:

The NomCom process is reasonably well documented at http://nomcom.icann.org/ and the pages that hang off of it as well as in the ICANN Bylaws - http://www.icann.org/en/general/bylaws.htm#VII. The process is completely confidential and there is no public involvement in the actual selection. However, the NomCom is comprised of people named by various ICANN (and some external) organizations. The full details are in the Bylaws. The ALAC selects 5 of the 17 voting members on the NomCom, one from each region, and if the RALO can come to closure on who to select, the ALAC simply ratifies that selection.
