hi all, this is the first of a couple notes that are the result of a recent chat with Danny Younger. he raised a really interesting issue with the recent de-accreditation of the 4Domains registrar. this US-based registrar closed and the the domains were transferred to Bahamas-based Internet.bs. the question is this -- what are the implications of an unexpected and involuntary change in jurisdiction (US to Bahamas in this case) for the business domain registrant? i know that i would be concerned if i woke up and found that the domain i base my business on had been transferred to a registrar outside the jurisdiction i registered it in. i'm wondering if others think this is an interesting topic too and would like to work on a statement from the BC suggesting that ICANN strive to select gaining registrars in the same country as the de-accredited one whenever possible. mikey - - - - - - - - - phone 651-647-6109 fax 866-280-2356 web http://www.haven2.com handle OConnorStP (ID for public places like Twitter, Facebook, Google, etc.)
