Chris, Regarding the session on Universal Acceptance, my business partner has had some unhappy experiences with .NAME after all these years! .NAME is not accepted by Apple for an ID (for iTunes, or any Apple device), British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC), Sears, New York Department of Education, among many others. Hope this helps. Kind regards, RA Ronald N. The panel is at 12.30 on Wednesday in La Paz A entitled: TLD Universal Acceptance Universal Acceptance of All Domains has been an on-going effort driven by ICANN. In the past this project's focus was on raising awareness that software vendors and other parties needed to make sure they accepted domains from new gTLDs that were introduced in previous rounds in 2000 and 2004. This scope has since expanded to include IDN ccTLDs, and since the ICANN Board of Directors approved the new gTLD program last year, many more new TLDs are expected to be added to the root zone in the near future. The main goal of this project is to raise awareness in the community and discuss the best ways of addressing these issues. In order to help the project achieve these goals, we are seeking to engage with the community on the best ways to identify and address the issues involved. We are inviting experts, like yourself, to take part in this active discussion so you can share your opinion on what you think could and should be done in order to promote further universal acceptance of all domains. We would like to allow invitees to share their experiences and opinions, as well as answer the following questions: 1. What are the existing issues with acceptance of domains registered within TLDs? 2. Who should be addressing the existing issues, for example, registry operators, registrars, ISPs, software vendors, software developers, others? 3. How can ICANN promote universal acceptance of all domains effectively?
