GNSO improvement Communications
Ron, When I asked you on the members call in the week whether you work on the SCI related to GNSO improvements it was at the back of my mind that the final report of the GNSO improvement Communications and Coordination Work team recommended a review one year on. This was because there was a feeling that a report on improvements in communication would be greeted with a yes and put aside and forgotten. I have looked this up. The council resolution in 2010 was <http://forum.icann.org/lists/gnso-osc-ccc/msg00191.html> http://forum.icann.org/lists/gnso-osc-ccc/msg00191.html RESOLVED FURTHER, that the GNSO Council accepts the CCTs specific recommendation to convene a standing committee whose role will be to monitor, coordinate, and manage the continuing implementation of the various recommendations emanating from the chartered GNSO Improvements Work Teams; I wonder if this is with your remit or has it been forgotten? One big product of the CCT was the new gNSO website which finally was launched recently. One area not tackled well (imho) was Document Management, this has not been heard of again until I saw an item in the FY13 Budget for this as a project. Chris, Indeed, the resolution you note is the remit of the SCI. To date we have been given our various tasks by Council or staff (when they found a hole in a process that they felt could use some consideration). I would recommend you (as a BC officer) send an email to Wolf-Ulrich Knoben, our Chair, noting the document management issue you have identified, along with as much detail as possible. Ron, Thanks for your suggestion. I was at the SCI report to Council Working Session <https://community.icann.org/display/gnsocouncilmeetings/GNSO+Working+Sessio n+Prague+Saturday+2012-06-23> https://community.icann.org/display/gnsocouncilmeetings/GNSO+Working+Session +Prague+Saturday+2012-06-23 the morning and noticed that the work presentation was entirely dedicated to GNSO Council operating procedures, so I asked the higher level question why other GNSO improvements were not being considered. Wolf responded that the WG would consider any items suggested by the community. I will write to Wolf as you suggest and flag this as an opportunity for any other BC or CSG members to draw attention to broken parts of the GNSO, especially those which are an unintended consequence of the GNSO improvements. best Chris Chaplow Managing Director Andalucia.com S.L.
