Thanks, Lawrence, for your supportive endorsement. WITSA is a strange animal, as are all global associations. :-) You are quite correct, -- just being a BC member will not justify visibility with the WITSA Board. As to the illusion, I think that as CROP has evolved, so must the BC's level of funding support. So, I welcome your suggesting this, Lawrence. I volunteer to help develop a two pager that is targeted to WITSA members, as I have been an active participant in WITSA for [okay, don't quote me on this, as you will figure out how old I am], since the days when David Olive was the Chair of the Internet Committee and I was the V.Chair at ITAA/TechAmerica, which hosted WITSA for several years. I continue to participate in many activities and have a relationship with the ICT associations that can help to devise a special Two Page document with advice from Jimson, Waudo, Omar - all of whom are very familiar with WITSA, and also I will invite a special contribution from Paul Mitchell, Microsoft, who is part of the WITSA Advisory Committee. ________________________________ From: Lawrence OlaWale-Roberts <icann@microboss.org> Sent: Thursday, August 24, 2017 8:42 PM To: Marilyn Cade Cc: Jimson Olufuye; bc-outreach@icann.org Subject: Re: [Bc-outreach] Outreach Proposal at WITSA WCIT, September 10-13, Taipei, Taiwan The Outreach proposal is a good one that the BC should key into as it would lead to more visibility and possible growth in our membership. I was under the illusion that there is a cap of $1500usd to support travel request of this nature from BC funds asides other fees that could be used to produce outreach materials for proposals of this nature, is this the case. Even where we have BC members in the region, I support Jimson taking the lead on this as his relationship with WITSA could help attract potential members from this event. Lawrence. I offer my support for this.
WITSA has been a long standing member in the past, and actually left partly due to the high cost of dues for associations. While headquarters are in the US, WITSA's membership reach is quite unique and reaches some countries that the BC otherwise has no membership in. For example, recently, WITSA held its Board meeting in Nepal, and through contacts that I have there, an interaction with the national IGF organizing committee emerged for the ICT association of Nepal.
It would be very useful to regain their active membership in the BC. Just a quick look at the map/list of members that Jimson shared is impressive for us to consider. With our new dues structure at the national level, I think that we could recruit 4+ WITSA members, as well as WITSA.
This would significantly impact our diversity in countries that we cannot reach otherwise.

Outreach Committee,
Attached, please find a proposal for an Outreach at the forthcoming WITSA World Congress on IT scheduled for September 10-13 in Taipei, Taiwan.
Consideration to attend the event became possible when a conflict during the period was removed by a client hence the regrettably late notice.
Hereby submitted for your decision.
Thank you and cheers,
JO
