Extensive edits to Mark's initial comments on the Fellowship Program
Mark, thanks so much for launching the comments. I have made extensive comments. Omar and I also did an analysis of numbers, and we might consider a few examples I also went through the attendance records of all Fellows that are part of the BC on the various working groups that BC members were signed up for, and it may be that we have to also consider ourselves what the metrics are. For instance, just signing up for 3-4 groups and then having a less than 50% attendance record, or a zero attendance record looks bad for a BC fellow. On the other hand, signing up for one working group and being seriously engaged might be the right metric. I also developed an insert where each of the Fellows [I may have missed a few] could describe what they are doing as an active BC member. And, I also included engagement in for instance, an NRI event. You might also include a CROP event, if you led on that -- Omar, Arinola, Lawrence, Tola, Gabi, Mark-- all engaged in CROP or BC funded activities, which is another demonstration of incorporation into the BC overall... I look forward to edits and comments. Please in particular think about recommendations and changes. Please also note that I repeated that we support only a 20% reduction but we do support other kinds of changes to make the Fellowship Program "fit for purpose". really -- over 600 attendees, and the BC has only been able to find around 8-10 qualified candidates. I have reestructured the document so that: 1) the relevant comments match the questions instead of being packed together in the front matter and 2) there is less repetition of themes and when the same opinion is expressed, it is instead more strongly condensed. I have made some corrections based on the progress that is ongoing within the Fellowship Coaching mailing list, which already address some points raised. Sorry for not redlining it properly, but the moving around started to make it pointless. Due to that, there is some language that I strongly disagree with that I have made comments instead of editting, so please give those a look. Mark, thanks so much for the quick turn around, as I realize it was a religious holiday in many places! I am on a IGF MAG call this am and out at the house site with contractors mid day but should be able to look at this early afternoon. ________________________________ From: Mark W.
