ICANN59 Planning Call - Is this needed?
Dear Andrew, and BC Outreach Committee: I hope everyone is caught up from ICANN58, although ICANN59 is now less than 90 days away. With that in mind, does the BC Outreach Committee wish to hold an ICANN59 planning call within the next few weeks? I realize 10-11 April is Passover, and Good Friday/Easter fall on the weekend of the 14-17th of April, which can limit availability. If a call is desired, perhaps we could schedule from 18-20 April (T-TH) ; OR 25 – 27 April (T-TH). This gives us 3 to 4 weeks to prepare before a call. Let me know how you would like to proceed. Thank you, Chantelle
Yes, in my view, we need to have a call as soon as we can. Also, Jimson and I have been discussing the local African business contacts that he has locally. I suggest that also as Christopher Mondini may be planning engagement locally, that we invite him to the working call. ________________________________ From: bc-outreach-bounces@icann.org <bc-outreach-bounces@icann.org> on behalf of Chantelle Doerksen <chantelle.doerksen@icann.org> Sent: Wednesday, March 29, 2017 1:13 PM To: bc-outreach@icann.org Subject: [Bc-outreach] ICANN59 Planning Call - Is this needed? I'm agreed. Chantelle, can we set up a doodle pool? I'm out next Monday (jury duty) but not sure yet about the rest of the week. Sometime next week might be a good start and possibly another by the end of April for an outreach call to start working on the details for ICANN 59.
From interactions I also had with Chris Mondini in Copenhagen, he seems willing to work with a plan put forward by the BC through the Outreach Committee on a special program for business outreach similar to the one he did with the ISPCP in Hyderabad, so maybe we first have a call to firm up our plan and then invite him to the next call or mail him with our specific requests.

As Jimson is central to working with the local ICT association, where Adrian Scofield is on the AfiCTA Board of Directors, I hope that we will invite him to this call. For instance, it might be possible to invite CEOs/Board members from some of the closer ICT associations -- such as Namibia, Botswana, Gambia, the Zambia. And, if we have a useful program that prioritizes perhaps 2 of the four days, we might be more effective in getting some business attendance. but we will have to design something relevant to attract business attendees as the policy meeting is a little sparse with easy to "jump into" sessions. The ISPCP designed a special program, focused on certain technical issues. Very few business leaders from Africa want to debate accurate WHOIS, or new PDPs, etc. BUT, are interested in SSR, as it affects their businesses directly. ________________________________ From: Lawrence OlaWale-Roberts <icann@microboss.org> Sent: Wednesday, March 29, 2017 8:29:57 PM To: amack Cc: Marilyn Cade; bc-outreach@icann.org Subject: Re: [Bc-outreach] ICANN59 Planning Call - Is this needed?
