final request for comments - CB strategy 2019 - suggested deadline Feb. 3rd
Dear Capacity Building Working Group Team, following the discussion we’ve had on calls and online, please kindly review the strategy document as amended: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1EtBN3hVjj_l4Izd7hayMmV5n0jQ-LuXolCLBGAcP.... I am happy to review your specific suggestions on this draft, preferably by the end of next week, i.e. by Feb. 3rd. Thank you and kind regards, Joanna Kulesza
Dear Joanna, colleagues, hi! For the start let me note and thank for great discussion and the perfect design of the workflow in which i am so grateful to participate. I have an suggestion or a question. I write about it here (not in Doc), because i see it at the crossing points of O&E and CB. So. What if we will consider the participation in general scale of our work: - our MOU partners - our ALSs - RIRs In my point of view we should not just attract them to deeply involving in O&E/CB events, but invite to exchange the experience, share an unique knowledge or expand the ICANN learning area. Or it already means (as the source of resources) or we may to put this point into our discussion. What are you thinking about it? Dear all, following Daniel’s example, I would like to present the Capacity Building Strategy before we all take off for Kobe. Thank you to everyone who fueled the informed discussion and the trust you put in the CB WG. I am very much looking forward to working with you towards the goals we have identified. I would like to kindly ask you to look into and, hopefully, endorse the CB Strategy. Following what seems to be an established custom, please kindly consider to endorse the strategy by replying to the thread. The next step would be to offer it to ALAC for their approval. Kind regards, Joanna Kulesza Capacity Building Working Group co-chair
Dear, I agree. Leader training is planned. Maybe we should also think about "Forming leaders". In fact, in LACRALO in a short time we have planned a course for those who have never held any position in our RALO, ALAC, ICANN and an introductory ICANN Learn course will be mandatory. Best regards Alberto

Dear Joanna, Thanks for sharing the Strategy. I do agree with it and well done for a good job. However, I think the strategy should also include how you intend to stagger the webinars for different time zones. Also, I think the aim should include working with other WGs for example in AFRALO we have the Hot Topics WG which has been working closely with ATLARGE CB WG when Tijani was the Chair. This enabled us to organise webinars that are useful and in line with what is required by the region. Looking forward to getting this approved in Kobe. Dear all: Since the document is a strategy document, the implementation process will include: - "Hot topics" per RALO, therefore a Matrix has been suggested to collect data per region. - Timezone difference is a top issue on our implementation process: some have suggested offering two sessions (same date or different dates) to accommodate time constraints. - Most webinars or formats to deliver Capacity Building will have the aim to increase awareness among the At-Large community of different issues that are within the remit of ICANN's mission and consider "How the presentation and/or learning format increases 'leadership skills'. Thanks

Dear, I agree.
Leader training is planned. Maybe we should also think about "Forming leaders". In fact, in LACRALO in a short time we have planned a course for those who have never held any position in our RALO, ALAC, ICANN and an introductory ICANN Learn course will be mandatory.
Best regards

Dear all,
following Daniel’s example, I would like to present the Capacity Building Strategy before we all take off for Kobe.

Dear Barrack and all, thank you for your feedback and for baring with my travel schedule. Here's a link to the Google Doc: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1bToBqd3Rty2ifIXcmHC5B4WKTF7PjiTS/view?usp=s... with a kind request for suggested changes rather than comments - we have been discussing this document within the WG since December, it would be great if we could come to a relatively swift conclusion, preferably at the next CBWG call (to be scheduled after ICANN 64). Hi Joanna,
Approved.
I support the strategy in principle. Let us subject it to further discussions in KOBE. Can we have it as a google doc so that we can correct a few typos. I am mindful of the fact that not all of us are native English speakers.

Dear Joanna, all
Thank you very much for the opportunity to work together on this strategy. It`s an excellent document. Also as the adding comments from Alberto, Alfredo, Abdulkarim.
I have a small question: Do we need (or don`t) to mention the CB work for ATLASIII, as the part of this Strategy and the part of activities with the current tasks of adoption and selection of webinars and with a huge strategic focus - the leadership ?

Dear all:
Since the document is a strategy document, the implementation process will include:
- "Hot topics" per RALO, therefore a Matrix has been suggested to collect data per region. This will be embedded within the activities developed.
We will involve and request ideas from all members of the At-Large of the Capacity Building WG to ensure we are successful in meeting our goal and objectives.
Keep on the conversation so a 'strong programme' can be designed.
Kind regards,

Dear Natalia, thank you for the suggestion. I am not sure it is a part of the CB building strategy, rather an additional task Alfredo and myself are trying to support within the AtlasIII WG, but as always I am happy to hear other thoughts.
