Our sessions in ICANN 56 - issue with meeting B schedule
Dear all, We are at GNSO discussing now the structure of meeting B. As far as I understand, meeting B will be very much focused on policy development. I asked a question now about the space in the schedule to sessions such as CCWP public session on human rights and others. The answer I got from our GNSO representative on meeting B discussions and from staff was that probably there will not be space in meeting B for these kind of gatherings. Staff added that maybe there will be consideration of requests coming from chartered efforts (some CCWGs mostly linked with policy topics). My understanding is that the work being carried out by the CCWP human rights feeds into policy discussions and in the future into WS2. It should not be considered an "extracurricular activity", but as a gathering related to policy discussions. If others believe this is also the case, the CCWP may want to consider discussing and intervening on the planning of meeting B. I was at the SO/AC meeting yesterday with the meeting team etc., The concept behind meeting B is to focus on chartered PDPs more than anything else. that’s already going to cause problems Guess we’ll see how things pan out -- Mr Michele Neylon Blacknight Solutions Hosting, Colocation & Domains http://www.blacknight.host/ http://blog.blacknight.com/ http://ceo.hosting/ Intl. +353 (0) 59 9183072 Direct Dial: +353 (0)59 9183090 ------------------------------- Blacknight Internet Solutions Ltd, Unit 12A,Barrowside Business Park,Sleaty Road,Graiguecullen,Carlow,Ireland Company No.: 370845 From: <cc-humanrights-bounces@icann.org<mailto:cc-humanrights-bounces@icann.org>> on behalf of Marilia Maciel <mariliamaciel@gmail.com<mailto:mariliamaciel@gmail.com>> Date: Saturday 5 March 2016 at 12:13 To: Human Rights <cc-humanrights@icann.org<mailto:cc-humanrights@icann.org>> Subject: [cc-humanrights] Our sessions in ICANN 56 - issue with meeting B schedule Dear all, We are at GNSO discussing now the structure of meeting B. Eventhough I understand the rationale, I think it would be really bad if the CCWP could not meet in Heslinki now that CCWG on Accountability expressed interested in building on work and liaising with CCWP HR, same holds true for the GAC, so I think there is a strong argument for giving us a slot. Thanks Nigel, please flag it internally because I think it could be quite problematic for the progress of the work if we could not meet in Helsinki. I think at this moment keeping the community informed is crucial to make contructive progress on this issue.
