Thanks. Vertical Separation of Registries and Registrars =================================== There is a need for registry/registrar separation model for the next version of the Applicant Guide Book. ICANN staff noted that it would be difficult to launch the Expression of Interests (EOI) model currently posted for public comment before v4 of the Applicant Guide Book given that the proposed model suggests that participation in the EOI be a requirement to apply for a new gTLD in the first round. All substantive issues need to be addressed in accordance with the GNSO communications period recommendation. The GNSO Council has decided to initiate a PDP on vertical integration between registries and registrars. Internationalized Domain Names (IDN) Implementation Working Team Final Report =============================================================== Tina Dam gave the gNSO Council an overview of the report, namely on Variant Management, 3 Characters Restriction (allowing 2 characters) and follow up actions such as review of comments received, Initiation of DNAME analysis and joint gNSO/ccNSO work on 1-character registrations. The working team report recommends that the GNSO and ccNSO work on the policies relating to selection of scripts for which single character IDN TLDs should be allowed and the method for allocation. The gNSO Council agreed to include the above two topics in the Joint ccNSO-GNSO IDN Working Group (JIG) work without the need to modify the charter. Topics for joint GNSO/ccNSO lunch meeting in Nairobi ======================================== The suggested topics for discussion at the joint ccNSO/GNSO lunch meeting in Nairobi on Monday, 8 March 2010 are as follows: - Affirmation of Commitments (AoC) Review - Selected topics from the Joint ccNSO/GNSO IDN group (JIG) - ccTLD fast track progress update Regards Han Chuan, Lee ------ End of Forwarded Message
