Due to the limited time that we have remaining in the run-up to ICANN64 and bearing in mind previous discussions about how to combine the two topics into a single coherent session, I have taken the liberty of adding Katrina (ccNSO Council Chair) and Dennis Tantanaka (Verisign, who contributed to much of the IDN implementation work with Sarmad’s team) to this thread. As a reminder, we will need a session description ASAP so (without seeming to turn the heat up on Lars ☺ ) it will be helpful to get this group’s suggestions and confirmation very soon, including on speaker/panelists if possible. Thank you all again! Hiro Hotta immediately comes to mind for me. Anyway, just a thought. Based on the community leaders’ planning calls to date, there seems to be general agreement that these two topics ought to be combined into a single session that will take the place of a previous proposal to focus on innovation in TLDs. As we approach the final run-up to ICANN64, I hope that this email will serve to kick off further discussions as to the objectives, scope and format of this combined session. I have cc’d Cyrus Namazi – ICANN org’s designated senior executive for this topic – as well as Sarmad Hussain, who leads ICANN org’s IDN program, so that we can better assist you with developing and running a successful session. Members of the Policy Team (including me and Carlos Reyes) will also be available to assist you with coordination, logistics, programming and overall management of the session. As such, we will need the following information at your earliest convenience: * A session description (for posting on the public schedule and meeting website) – this is the most urgently needed item at this point so even a placeholder description that can provide basic information to attendees looking at the meeting schedule will be fine; and * Your preferred format and room setup (e.g. will it be run as a panel with a moderator; how many speakers/panelists and who they are; how you wish to handle audience interaction and Q&A etc.). We hope this email is helpful and look forward to your further discussions. Thank you all! Best regards, Mary
