Your selection is a gerund (or gerundive, I forget the difference).
Actually, I'm technically wrong here. I'm misremembering my high school Latin instruction. I remind myself that gerunds all end in -ing in English (i.e. the word "selecting" in the phrase "your selecting the first option") Nonetheless I still agree with Katrina.
It has exactly the meaning stated by Katrina (i.e. it's the act of selection, not the person selected.
And for the reasons stated by Katrina, I prefer it here, as it depersonalises any implied criticism of the candidate.
(if we are debating this kind of minutiæ then the letter is ready!!)

Hello All,
Thanks for support and comments!
I’d like to have a little more quidance regarding Peter’s proposal.
We have “your selection” vs “the person you selected”
As a non-native speaker (and please remember that most of the people reading this letter might be non-native as well) I feel that when I refer to “your selection” I mean “your” (NomCom’s) and “selection” (the outcome of something they have done). So, “your selection” would refer to the process and the end result of the process. Yes, in some respect a “thing”. If I say “the person you selected” then for me it sounds like I am refering to the end result irrespective of the process, i.e., the person.
Personally I would prefer “your selection” because, as we discussed, we are not happy with the process, not the person they have selected. But if, despite of my arguments, you think that “the person you selected” is the right term, I will change it. Please let me know asap! I’d like to send the letter today.
Kind regards,
]{atrina

Dear Katrina, dear all,
I also endorse the draft letter.
Only one minor observation and something to be further examined by native English speaking people.
There is a mention in the draft letter of “your selection”
/Your selection is on the Board of Directors of the Canadian Internet Registration Authority (CIRA)/
If I read this, it is almost as we are referring to a “thing” and not to a person. I agree that we should keep the tone of our letter neutral and to the point but we are referring to the selection of a person (and more specifically the affiliation of that person that is causing the problem) and not to an object.
So maybe, this could/should be replaced by wording like “The person you selected”?
I further support sending a copy to John Jeffrey so that the ICANN legal department is fully informed of our legitimate concerns.
And lastly, I find it absolutely necessary to inform Ms. Moll about our action towards the NomCom. I quite like Nigel’s suggestion to keep this very straightforward and not take the risk to diffuse the message by sending a lengthy (and potentially apologizing) letter to Ms. Moll. So, I’m in favor of a brief cover letter with an attached copy of the communication to the NomCom chair.
Best regards,
Peter

Dear Councillors,
As agreed at the last Council call, I am attaching a draft for the letter to be sent to the NomCom and ICANN Board.
* Please have a look at the draft and let me know your views, suggestions, edits, etc. * There was a proposal to inform also ICANN Legal Council John Jeffrey. Do you support the proposal? (why yes or no?) * In the letter it it is mentioned that we are going to write a separate letter to Ms Moll to share our concerns and ask for her opinion on the conflict. This letter still needs to be drafted (if we agree that we should send one).
Kind regards,
]{atrina
