Dear Councillors, I have previously contacted you individually regarding the ccNSO Travel funding for ICANN76, held 11-16 March 2023 in Cancùn. This is a reminder that to determine the distribution of the ccNSO slots, your action is required by Friday, 21 October 2022 (23:59 UTC). Thanks to those that already responded. Instructions For the three (3) Councillors of each region, in total one (1) slot with full funding is available. Please discuss the distribution of the slot for your region with the two other Councillors from your region. Please send your answer to the two questions below to joke.braeken@icann.org. The deadline is Friday, 21 October 2022, 23:59 UTC. 1. Which Councillor(s) from your region will receive funding? (*see note below) 1. Please choose: Option 1: full funding, Option 2: partial funding – flight, Option 3: partial funding - hotel & per diem * Note Will a Councilor receive full funding? ==> Kindly include 1 name per region maximum. What is included? ccNSO travel funding covers an economy class ticket to the travel destination, the hotel costs for the time of the meeting and a per diem. (Either full or partial funding). For ICANN76, the approved date of arrival is: 10 March 2023, the approved date of departure: 17 March 2023. Background The ccNSO has 17 full travel slots for ICANN76, and 8 slots are available to Council: As per the applicable guideline (section 5.1)<https://ccnso.icann.org/sites/default/files/field-attached/ccnso-draft-oisc-...>: three (3) ccNSO full travel funding slots will be available for the NomCom appointed ccNSO Councillors, and at least one (1) Councillor from every ICANN geographic region is eligible to receive travel support for an ICANN meeting. The Councillors representing the region are to decide among themselves who will receive funding to attend a meeting, and they inform the secretariat accordingly. Out of the total 17 slots, 9 full slots are allocated to the “Broader ccTLD community” category. Eligible recipients for ccNSO travel funding from the broader ccTLD community may include for instance ccNSO session presenters, session chairs, moderators, ccNSO working group or committee chairs, liaisons, observers or councilors with an active role at the ICANN meeting. Members from the ccTLD community (including Councillors not funded via the mechanism above) can apply for travel funding via an application form on the ccNSO website. Instructions will be circulated on the ccNSO mailing lists and published on the ccNSO website. If all 3 Councillors from a specific region decline the travel funding, that slot is allocated to the “Broader ccTLD community” category (bringing the total to 9 full slots, plus 1). The same applies to the 3 slots for NomCom appointed Councillors: if one or more NomCom appointed Councillor declines the funding, the slot goes to the “Broader ccTLD community” category. A sub-committee of the ccNSO Outreach and Involvement Committee (OISC) will meet shortly after closure of the application window. The OISC subcommittee will need to evaluate all applications received via the online form - excluding the 5+3 Council slots - and make an informed decision on the distribution of the slots. The ccNSO Secretariat will submit the ccNSO travel fund database to ICANN Travel support by the deadline given to us by ICANN org. All applicants will be informed accordingly, and the list of ccNSO funded travelers will be posted on the ccNSO website. ICANN might require funded Travelers to sign an acknowledgement and waiver, built in the meeting registration for anyone that is registering for in-person participation. Instructions on how to book travel will be provided by ICANN Travel Support to funded travelers who are confirmed and eligible. TRAVEL ARRIVAL MEASURES. All travelers have a responsibility to understand the entry and exit requirements of their travel and determine if they can meet those requirements before committing to the travel.
