Dear Councillors, One of my action items from the last council call was to send out a note to you with comments to the recommendations of the Participation Working Group's final report, so that the Council is aware of which items still need to be dealt with. The recommendations to the ccNSO Council and ccNSO Secretariat are copied in below with my comments. The final report can be found at: http://ccnso.icann.org/workinggroups/ccnso-participationwg-final-report-feb0... 4.1 ccNSO Council We recommend that the Council should: * Introduce a ccTLD mentor programme - where interested ccTLD Managers would be mentored by volunteer experienced ccTLD Managers There was a trial to launch such a programme in cooperation with the ICANN Fellowship programme (where most of the new ICANN ccTLD participans "start") - however, it was not very successful and has not been continued during the last two meetings. I will ask for feedback from Janice from the Fellowship Programme what we could do to improve this. * Conduct any relevant ICANN surveys in collaboration with the RO's and consider coordinating any relevant global ccTLD surveys via the RO's. No surveys have been done in collaboration with the Regional Organisations. * Improve liaison collaboration between the ccNSO and the RO's All Regional Organisation representatives are invited to take part in all of the ccNSO meetings, Working Groups, Council meetings and workshops. The representatives also have a direct influence on the shaping of the ccNSO meeting agenda, by their presence in the Programme Working Group. * Continue to update ccNSO Members on the work of the RO's The Regional Organisations have a set slot on the meeting agenda for their updates and the representatives are subscribed to the email lists, where they have the possibility to post information. A joint leaflet was produced on the work of the ccNSO as well as the Regional Organisation, which is distributed at each ICANN meeting. The Regional Organisation meetings are also announced on the ccNSO website (ccnso.icann.org under "Upcoming Related Events"). 4.5 Secretariat We recommend that the Secretariat should: * Publish a list of ccNSO participants to the ccNSO website in advance of each meeting, to facilitate better networking. (As a sub-section of the Registered Attendees who have given permission for their names to be published) This has been done. See https://www.registration123.com/reports/saved.cfm?r=%24%2A%40X%20W0%20%20%0A for the Seoul meeting * Endeavour to upload relevant documents and communiqués in a timely Manner It is hard to measure this, as many factors influence when something is posted. The goal is to always post something as soon as possible. However, it might be worth noting that the first draft of the meeting agenda for Seoul was already posted on the 24 August, 2 months prior to the meeting itself, which is an improvement. * Create a ccTLD profile page for each ccTLD on the ccNSO website (for example to include a brief history, contact information and a link to the website of the ccTLD) The profile page is up: http://ccnso.icann.org/about/members.htm - we are continuously working on receiving more profiles. * Create a resource area for ccTLD managers on the ccNSO website (for example with links to registry management software etc.) A first step to fulfill this recommendation is the "Shared Resources Session" in Seoul, where registries and Regional Organisations are invited to speak on resources they are would be happy to share. Based on that session, a special dedicated page will be created where resources will be listed. The session is meant to draw attention to this project and will hopefully spur more registries to share material. Gabi
