Dear All Regarding this paragraph on use of single character, single digit combinations: "Given the close relation with two-letter code-elements and issues of confusing similarity, the ccNSO Council strongly suggests the current reservation be maintained. At a minimum, this issue needs to be further discussed under Work Track 5." I still think it should be changed to: Given the close relation with two-letter code-elements and issues of confusing similarity, the ccNSO Council *requests* the current reservation be maintained. On another note, Rosalía Morales (.cr), who is a participant on the WT5 gave an update to the LACTLD community on Wednesday regarding the current events of the group. She said that for an unknown reason all consensus that was achieved until now was going to be ignored and that everything was on the table again for discussion. She highlighted that the participation of ccTLDs and GAC representatives was much lower now than before, maybe because people felt that consensus regarding their points of interest had been achieved. It is her belief that two letter domain names might not be the target of this "move", but more likely aiming for the three letters TLDs. Therefore, it seems necessary to reiterate the importance of restricting the two letters domain names, for future country codes TLDs, in our statement. Hi Bart,
I suggest that the reference to WT5 should be dropped.
It was moved from WT5 to WT2 because theses two-character ACII + digit are not country or territory names.
So I’d remove:
*“**At a minimum, this issue needs to be further discussed under Work Track 5. “*

Peter

Dear all,
Following yesterday’s Council call: if you have additional comments/suggestions for the ccNSO Council submission on the Initial Report WT 1-4, please send them to the list by Monday 24 September 17.00 UTC. The draft as circulated by Katrina on is included again.
Thank you,
Kind regards,
Bart
From the informal notes from yesterday:
Annebeth asked to clarify her views on WT5, which deals with country & territory names. 2-letter code elements are not covered here. Annebeth suggested to stress more the relevance of the 2-letter symbol. Strong arguments against mentioning RFC1591. Reference to be dropped?
Your views on the draft council statement? Would you like to add anything? APTLD today discussed their own response to the report.
· Pablo: LACTLD is also discussing a communique, similar to the one discussed in APTLD. Individuals are invited to submit their comments as well. Communique is being circulated within the Board at LACTLD. Proposal to be stern in our comments.
· Stephen: the APTLD document is also a forceful comment. Individuals are indeed invited to comment as well.
· Katrina: we have strong arguments. There is no need to be overly aggressive. Deadline is 26 September. By Monday 24 September, councillors are invited to add suggestions, propose changes, if any.
