Harris Subject: NTIA Notice of Inquiry on the IANA functions Hi Chris Hope you are well. Just wanted to ensure that you were aware of the Notice of Inquiry (NOI) that NTIA issued today with respect to the IANA functions. The NOI is our tool to seek stakeholder input on issues. In this case we are proactively seeking feedback on how to improve or enhance the performance of the IANA functions. Just to be clear this is not a referendum on ICANN's performance or who should operate the IANA functions going forward, rather it is an opportunity for stakeholders to openly provide feedback and offer concrete suggestions. I trust that as chair of the ccNSO you will share the notice broadly. Vernita Harris, copied above, is the NTIA staff point of contact on this and both Vernita and I will be in San Francisco for the ICANN meeting and would look forward to talking to you and others, as appropriate. The NOI can be found at http://www.ntia.doc.gov/frnotices/2011/fr_ianafunctionsnoi_02252011.pdf. Fiona Fiona M.
