This statement contains the results of ALAC discussion and viewpoint on the draft Strategic Plan, and has views that will be of interest to ccNSO members and members of the larger ccTLD community. There are also interesting statistics related to the number and global distribution of ALSs (At Large Structures). 2) Please note that there is a Call for Community Comment on the Proposed Process for the 2010 Selection of an ICANN At-Large Board Member. The URL for details of this comment opportunity in English, French and Spanish is: http://www.icann.org/en/public-comment/#at-large-director The white paper is here: https://st.icann.org/alac-docs/index.cgi?director_white_paper 3) From last month: ccTLD outreach survey. The Council requested a draft of the proposed questions relating to outreach opportunities between ALSs (At Large Structures) and ccTLDs that ALAC would like to include in a ccTLD survey. Rudi and I discussed the matter at length. Rudi Vansnick (ALAC / ccTLD liaison) advised me that ALAC would first like to survey the current 120 or so ALSs with questions about their members relationship with their ccTLDs. Questions would likely include: ALS members' knowledge and understanding of their ccTLD operation, whether any of their members were associated with their ccTLD operation, Board member perhaps, or if they know of a public relations or public education outreach project at the ccTLD. Or, is their ccTLD is a government operation and, if so, what public input was encouraged. The bottom line is that the requested ccTLD survey is postponed until the ALS survey is completed. When the content of the ALS survey is available, I will provide a copy to the ccNSO Council, and follow it up with the survey results. ALAC expects to have the ALS survey designed by the end of the Nairobi meeting. Best regards Ron Sherwood, ccTLD / ALAC liaison ------ End of Forwarded Message
