The Temporary Specification was originally approved [icann.org]<https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__www.icann.org_news_anno...> by the Board on 17 May 2018, in order to establish temporary requirements for how ICANN and its contracted parties will comply with existing ICANN contractual requirements and community-developed policies in relation to the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
