Hi Jordan, I am not sure I understand your question but I will try to answer anyway :) The main point of reference (if I may say so) is the Q&A session with all the candidates during a f2f ccNSO Members Meeting. It means we have a period of nominations before this meeting to identify the candidates, Q&A session during the f2f meeting after the nominations, and the voting after the meeting: Nominations --> Q&A --> Voting (second voting, if necessary) --> Appointment Everything was easy-peasy but then we decided we also must run background checks on our candidates and, as Stephen pointed out, the Bylaws now require us to nominate our candidates 6 month before they are supposed to take their seat (even if we reappoint the same person), i.e. at the end of the third ICANN meeting of the year (AGM). Nominations --> Checks --> Q&A --> Voting --> Appointment --> 6 months --> AGM As it turned out, background checks MAY take time (depending of the country of residence of the candidate). The only realistic time for Q&A is during the AGM a year before the AGM at which the candidate is supposed to take their seat. Nominations --> Checks (3 months) --> Q&A (AGM1) --> Voting --> Appointment --> 6 months --> AGM2 Does it clarify? Should we make sure nominations are open during an ICANN inperson meeting? (assuming we ever have any again?). Or is it preferable that it's after nomination but before voting to be open during the meeting? I'm sure you have talked about this at GRC already. Wonder if you could share the view taken? thanks Jordan On Sat, 25 Apr 2020 at 21:58, Bart Boswinkel <bart.boswinkel@icann.org> wrote: Dear all, The GRC has concluded its review of the Guideline: ccNSO Board Nomination Process Seat 11 and 12. This review was necessary to address concerns raised and issues identified by the Nomination Manager in the course of the latest Board Seat Nomination Process. In addition, other concerns have been addressed. If you have comments etc. it would be most helpful if you could send them to the Council list by Friday 1 May 2020. After you have reviewed the document it will be send to the members to seek their input. Goal is to conclude the revision by mid- May 2020, in time for the upcoming Council meeting. Thank you and kind regards, Bart Major changes: Nomination Manager -> Nomination Process Manager A ccNSO member can only nominate 1 candidate, additional nomination are invalid, but will be published A member may second as many candidates as wanted, with no impact. If majority of votes cast is “None of the Above” nomination process will be terminated and start again with new timeline and appointment Nomination Process Manager.
