Please share it with your fellow Councilors and let us know if this summary captures what was discussed. On behalf of team I wan tot thank yopu and the other Councilors for sharing your views, On behalf of Veni, Bart Summary notes ----------------------------------------------------------------------- During the call, we discussed the following items and related actions we will execute together (either individually or together) to further our cooperation: *Improving Coordination * - We will set up a smaller working group, comprised of members of our WSIS+20 Outreach Network, to provide a regular forum for interested participants to coordinate more effectively. We welcome your suggestion for ccNSO members to participate in this group. We will arrange regular calls for this working group to strategize ways to engage in the WSIS+20 discussions. - With regard to specific stakeholder groups and interested parties that have a specific interest in the WSIS+20 discussions, we welcome the opportunity to establish small ad-hoc groups to enable an exchange of ideas in relation to those specific areas. Any ad-hoc group set up with ICANN coordination should operate under the principles of transparent dialogue and open participation. - ICANN expects to partner closely with the ccTLD Technical Community Coalition that was announced earlier this year. *Proactively Providing WSIS+20 Analysis and Recommendations * - As part of our work with the WSIS+20 Outreach Network, ICANN will provide WSIS+20 related analysis, talking points, and recommendations for action. These talking points of course may be used by ccTLD members in their interactions with their respective governments. - Working with the community, ICANN will continue to publish information about public calls for submissions to the UN bodies. *Providing Core Messaging * - We will provide more detailed messaging about the WSIS+20 Review Process on the WSIS+20 Outreach Network page of the ICANN website. *Messaging for Media Engagement * We will collaborate further to ensure we have consistent key messages for the media. These messages will include, among others: - Information about the UN processes and what these processes mean for the future of the multistakeholder model of Internet governance - How ICANN’s multistakeholder model of governance and the ICANN SO/ACs have contributed to the security, stability and resiliency of the DNS, and thus to the functioning of the single, interoperable Internet.
Ale, All, I don’t think these notes completely cover the discussions we had. I had a clear understanding that ICANN would convene a call of the outreach network mailing list to set up a smaller group begin discussions on a strategy that ICANN and the community can develop in respect to WIS +20 and other relevant matters leading up to WSIS. Whilst Veni’s first bullet point deals with this it is written in terms that ICANN will be merely a facilitator. I think we need to clarify this point. I did not take notes during the meeting but I remember that at the end of the conversation I had the impression we'd have brought our message across. The informal notes would be incompatible with that perception because what they boil down to is clerical work rather than active engagement on substance. Best Peter
Hi all I could read the notes both ways, and based on how Chris and Peter have, I think we should go back to ask for this key point of leadership being reinforced..? Thank you All. To be on the safe side, a note to Veni was sent relaying the expectation for a more assertive role from ICANN.
