Re: [ccnso-council] [Request for Advice] Participation in ALAC session at ICANN 71
Dear Irina Yes, it was planned at the same time of our Q&A, but I was told that it was going to be moved to one block before, Tuesday 15 June at 08:30-10:00 UTC. This way we can all attend the session *:)* Best regards, Alejandra -- [image: Photograph] *Alejandra Reynoso*Investigación & Desarrollo | Dominios .gt *P:* +502 23688565 *E:* alejandra.reynoso@cctld.gt 18 Ave. 11-95 Zona 15, V.H. Dear Alejandra and all
I fully agree that ccNSO should be presented at the session
The only issue is that it conflicts with ccNSO ccTLD-related Board Members Questions and Answer Session
So we need to plan who’s going to attend each of these 2 sessions

Hi Jordan
Regarding the message, yes indeed it was delivered.
For clarity:
- Apparently there was an internal miscommunication on who was supposed to contact us and in the end nobody did (thinking the other person was doing it already). - Regarding the time for coordination, at first it was proposed to have a full ccTLDs models presentation and we explained that we had already done something similar in the past and that it took no less than two months for proper preparation. Therefore, we couldn't commit to doing something similar with such short notice. Afterwards it was suggested to have a summary of that previous session, which is doable.
Also, it was added that it wasn't advisable to prepare a session in a rush.
Best,
Alejandra

Hello Alejandra, colleagues
In the substance of this session I don’t see any problems. It may be that hearing these perspectives from the removed perspective of ALAC can be interesting for us.
I do think the strong message of ‘nothing about us without us’ and the need to discuss sessions such as this with the ccnso well in advance has been truly heard now by ALAC staff and officers?
Cheers
Jordan

Dear all,
Yesterday I met with ALAC representatives to express my concern about a session they intended to have on ccTLDs. The session was titled "Policy Session 3: Public Interest: Is the commercialization of ccTLDs a threat?"
The session was an attempt to explore if commercialization of ccTLD registries affects Internet end users. Trying to understand the possible impacts of commercialization on consumer protection, competition, the stability of the DNS and, in a broader sense, on the public interest. After an introduction to the history of ccTLD policy, the intention was to answer two questions: 1) What is the impact of ccTLD registries commercialization on consumer protection, competition, and the stability of the DNS? 2) Does the commercialization of ccTLD registries affect Internet end users?
As a result of the discussion, the topic and the goal of the session changed to: "ccTLD Governance Models - Testimonies from At-Large end users". In principle it builds on and uses the ccTLD models session from ICANN68 (Not-for profit, for profit, government, and academia run ccTLDs) and previous work we have done with ALAC on the different ccTLD Governance models. As this is an ALAC session, they will look at some people within their community who each have experience with one of the models from an end-user perspective. Potentially there will be a follow-up during ICANN72, but that depends on a lot of variables.
Before committing to anything, I told them I would circle back to you to find out whether you agree that we participate in the re-focused session. If so, I want to ask Katrina to provide the overview of the models, as she did all the preparation for the previous sessions.
Please advise, preferably by tomorrow.
Best regards,
Alejandra
