Information Sharing NEW Publication: U.N Update: Cyber-Related Development This paper provides an update on the proceedings of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), where discussions of cyber-related issues take place. It includes updates from the deliberations at the second Open-Ended Working Group (OEWG) and the Ad Hoc Committee of Experts (AHC)2 between 4 June 2021 and 2 September 2023 as well as more recent discussions on and around the Global Digital Compact in 2023. NEW: ICANN Publishes Paper on Defense Mechanisms Against Harmful Internet Content In our new paper, we argue that understanding the strengths and weaknesses of any one Reputation Block List (RBL), or combination of multiple RBLs, is key to getting a good fit for a particular use case. Read more. NEW: Reflecting on 2023: ICANN in Europe, Eastern Europe, and Central Asia ICANN78, held in Hamburg, Germany, was the crowning achievement of the year for our European team. We saw record-breaking attendance from a great diversity of geographies and backgrounds, and we celebrated ICANN's 25th anniversary with panel discussions and parties. Read more. REMINDER: Call for SOs/ACs to Nominate Fellowship Program Mentors ICANN invites the Supporting Organizations (SOs) and Advisory Committees (ACs) to nominate volunteers to serve as Fellowship Program Mentors. Each group is welcome to nominate one individual for this role. Individual self-nominations will not be considered. • Mentors generally must plan on a time commitment of approximately 30-40 hours before, during, and immediately after each ICANN Public Meeting. This includes extensive pre-meeting preparation, on-site support for their assigned fellows, and post-meeting reporting. • Mentors will serve a term that includes three consecutive ICANN Public Meetings, beginning with ICANN81 (from ICANN81 - ICANN83 inclusive). • Mentors are expected to follow Fellowship Program guidelines to help ensure consistency in capacity development opportunities for fellows and to help fellows actively participate in ICANN's work. • Mentors will receive travel funding support (if applicable).
