Dear Tom Belated happy new year! Apologies for coming back so late to you. Between the holidays and coming back to work, I lost track of this conversation. I'm sorry! Going back to your question, I had the impression that you wanted a call between the NomCom and the ccNSO leadership, but if you prefer to address the whole ccNSO Council at its next call on 13 February at 12:00 UTC, I can reserve a 15 min slot for you. The main difference would be the time available to answer any questions. Which one do you prefer? Dear Alejandra,
The NomCom would be happy to discuss this with the ccNSO virtually. Does the ccnso have a member call scheduled for January (preferred) or February?
Thanks,
Tom

Dear Tom
Due to the limited available time at ICANN meetings, we would prefer a virtual call if possible. If you don't think this format will achieve the desired goals, we can try to find a slot at ICANN82 during the weekend (8 or 9 of March).
Best regards, Alejandra

Alejandra,
Thanks for the response. I appreciate that the ccnso advice has not changed and thus the ccnso does not feel it needs to elaborate about it.
However, Nomcom delegates often have questions regarding the ccnso activities as well as the provided advice. Oftentimes, delegates are not familar with the ccnso at all since they are appointed by other bodies. This year 100% of the Nomcom delegates are first-timers.
Thus, having a face-to-face meeting is essential for addressing delegate questions and helps improve the Nomcom's efficiency and appointments.
Perhaps we can schedule a session during the Seattle meeting in March?
Tom

Dear Tom
When the ccNSO received NomCom's email to review the job description for future NomCom appointed councillors, it was shared for review with the ccNSO Council and the conclusion was that no update was necessary. Therefore, there was no need to meet with the NomCom to discuss it further, since it remained unchanged.
The dissatisfaction with a past selection to the ccNSO Council happened a long time ago and it was addressed and solved years ago and the latest update of the job description addresses this.
It was not clear to us that there was a need from the new cohort of the NomCom to have a conversation with the leadership of the ccNSO, regardless of the lack of changes to the job description. Apologies for the misunderstanding. If it's still helpful, we can arrange for a virtual call in December.
Best regards, Alejandra

Dear Alejandra,
As Chair-elect of the NomCom (and member of the ccNSO), I wanted to send you a note regarding the 2025 NomCom in Istanbul.
I understand that in recent years that the ccNSO has declined to meet with the NomCom regarding the NomCom appointment to the ccNSO.
The ccNSO is the only receiving ICANN body that has not been willing or interested to meet with the NomCom to explain to the current NomCom delegates the type of NomCom candidate that would be optimal for the ccNSO.
I would like to understand more why the ccNSO is not willing to meet with the NomCom. Especially, since I understand that the ccNSO was dissatisfied with one of the past NomCom appointments.
This meeting is especially important this year, since we have 100% new delegates with no prior experience with the NomCom.
Any insights you can share would be appreciated.
best regards,
Tom
