To whom it may concern, As the owner of a small business I oppose the new changes to the contract with Verisign, Inc who operate the .COM top-level-domain (TLD). Not only was it made in secret, without consulting or incorporating feedback from the ICANN community or Internet users, but it is a greedy cash grab apparently with no oversight on how those funds are supposed to be spent. I wholeheartedly oppose this action as it will do irreparable damage to the democratic nature of the internet and make it less attainable for those people without the means and funds to participate in it. Hello, I am writing to express my strong opposition to the ICANN contract with Verisign affecting .com domains. 40% of all registered domain names online are .COM, including many diverse sites of artists, artisans, writers, public intellectuals, and more. According to this new agreement, Verisign will be allowed to increase the wholesale price to registrars for .COM domains every year for 8 out of the next 10 years, and the increases don’t stop there. This will mean that .COM wholesale domain prices can grow by more than 70% over and above current prices over the next decade. The contract also allows for other price increases, which could drive prices up further, ultimately making .COM domains less accessible and more expensive for everybody. This is a betrayal of the ideals of the internet as a forum for sharing, free expression, and creativity. ICANN should reject these changes to the contract in favor of protecting the affordability of .COM domains for everyone. Signed, Gina Helfrich

Dear ICANN, I urge you to discard the changes to the contract with Verisign!! What else is possible here?? Me and the entire community of internet users are the ones who will actually deal with your choices. What is your permission of giving them an allowance to increase the wholesale price to registrars for .com domains creating? Is that truly a contribution? Don't increase the price for domain registration or renewal. Domain name is property of the owner and should not be subject to forced increases in pricing.

Price increases are hard to accept at this time in my usage of my namecheap.com use. I just started using this domain name website and I cannot afford your intended increase in prices without at least considering my opinion or my say into the matter, I am a customer and need representation for all things that effectively affect my income and expenses. I still need time to build my business and start showing a profit, but if you are going to increase my rent before I can make a descent living, then you will force me to take my business elsewhere, however I have already paid for one year of service and expect you to honor the price I paid in good faith. The details of the proposed amendment are absolutely shameful! The ones benefiting from .COM registrations should *NOT* be Verisign or ICANN. It should be the people who use those domains to start their business, build their brand, and do amazing things. The proposed amendment allows for a .COM price to be 71.8% higher than it is today. The .COM TLD is a staple of the Internet and should remain as financially accessible as possible. This proposed amendment is a disgrace! Please stop it from going through. -Kenneth Lim

I feel strongly that affordability should be a priority for .com domain names. The public should be protected from profiteering and any company that benefits from the core infrastructure of the Internet should have strong requirements to re-invest those dollars into infrastructure. Whenever possible decision making should be done publicly rather than behind closed doors. Rodrick Williams
