Whilst I can understand the reason to increase prices I do not agree with the amount being considered. I believe it would be far more equitable to restrict any price increase to no more than the annual cost of living increase in the USA. Dear Icann, Some products are also critical infrastructure and basic necessities. Domain names fall in this category. To enforce price hikes unmotivated in any way by increased costs of operation is to take advantage of that. / Sten Lillieström

I use the Internet but I am not a .com registrant. I am against the proposed price increase to .COM domains. No one other than Verisign want increases in .COM prices. The current rate of $7.85 is already far more than justified. Verisign is merely your manager of the .COM Registry - it has no business dictating the price. I'm commenting specifically about allowing annual price increases to .com domains. With the online platforms becoming more closed and protected, direct ownership of a website is the only way for free expression that remains unhinged and open to all. Opening the gate for annual price increases will shut that last gate of free expression off. Free expression should not be subservient to commercial interests. Corporations will always want to make more money. It's fine; it's their goal - I am a business person too. But whatever claims are made, it is clear the domain system and commercial activities around are flourishing already. Proper capitalism protects limited public resources - .com domains are exactly that type of resource. Price increases are just not required. Thank you for reading, Itamar
