I’d like to comment on the amendment that you are proposing to the .com registry. I understand that such a change is a significant financial benefit to your agency, but I wonder if you have taken into consideration the trickle-down effect that it will have to users of services, such as Namecheap, who buy domain names at a very affordable price. Such a rate hike will make it more of a financial burden to those of us who purchase many domains each year to do our business. To Whom it May Concern, Being an event planner and designer one our responsibilities is to negotiate contracts on behalf of my clients, and in doing so, I give my clients the comfort in knowing I am negotiating these contracts for them with their best interest and protection to the best of my ability. In negotiating said contracts, it’s my job to make sure that vendors not only don’t take advantage of my clients (especially if some contracts were already signed before I was hired) but also to make sure vendors adhere to all that has been agreed upon by both parties, so there is no way any “side deals” or “surprises” come up before, during or after my client’s event. In contract law, not adhering to all that is written therein constitutes a breach of contract, and if ICANN has a contract that states they are not able to increase prices until a certain time, then it would behoove them to adhere to that contract and make any all adjustments at the time when a new contract is needed to be negotiated. I am contacting the ICANN pertaining to Amendment 3 of the .COM Registry Agreement betwixt the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) and American Domain Registrar and Internet services provider Verisign Incorporated. As the operator of a .com domain, especially one on a extremely low budget, I heavily protest the changes to the Wholesale Price limitations issued in Section 1, Subsection "Alignment with Amendment 35 of the Cooperative Agreement". Both people in my situation (limited financial ability) and those in nations with extremely disproportionate currency worth to the United States (Where Verisign is located) will be heavily affected by this change, to the point where domain ownership could become difficult to afford, and be a nuisance for others. I and others implore the ICANN to nullify the alignment with Amendment 35, and protect the interests of internet users ergo. These changes will have a significant impact on the Internet for years to come, and only ICANN and Verisign have participated in this decision, which is unfair to say the least, and nefarious collusion to say the worst. Hello ICANN, I have several .COM domains and am directly affected by ICANN and the decisions made by the domain companies in this area. After doing some research, I came to the knowledge that there was a recent agreement made between Verisign and ICANN that has a big impact on the industry. Specifically how Verisign can now increase the prices dramatically year over year, how Verisign can operate as their own registrar, and possibly act as a reseller through another registrar. This is directly affecting small businesses because it will cause a significant more friction and make it harder for your main market to continue to innovate. I believe it is really important that ICANN involve more of the market and community on these types of decisions. — Tanner Meade

The current rate of $7.85 is already far more than justified and the average price of managing the infrastructure must certainly be diminishing over time. Verisign is merely your manager of the .COM Registry - it has ABSOLUTELY no business dictating the price. Please note - I am against the proposed increase to .COM domains. I'm the owner of domain names for both, my non-profit that supports youth entrepreneurs in South Los Angeles, and domain names for my own small for-profit business. Raising the fees will become an unnecessary burden on my business and those of emerging young business owners who already are challenged to succeed per the underserved areas in which they live.

I am a registrant of a .com domain name. I am against the proposed price increase to .COM domains. No one other than Verisign want increases in .COM prices. Hello, As a tech entrepreneur and small business owner, running a business is hard enough. Raising costs on top level domains will not only hurt my business, but will have a chilling effect on new tech entrepreneurs starting a new business from their bedroom. Also, only allowing VeriSign as a sole partner in this is wrong.
