As a small blog owner, I am very concerned about the recent contract change with Verisign that would allow them to increase .COM domains over the next ten years. Should these changes go forward, many people like myself may not be able to keep their websites afloat. I am concerned that the internet is becoming less equal for users without high income, and I don't want to live in a world where only those who can afford it share information and ideas online. I ask that you please reconsider this change, and that you protect the free speech of internet users and content creators. Thank you, Elizabeth Steere

This increase in price to individuals is going to be huge especially when many like myself have 5 to 6 or more domain some of which we do not even use at the moment but do not want to let go of them because of sentimental value. On the other hand corporations make huge money on their domains and probably wont care about yet another price increase so in the end you will have more rich corporations owning all the domains and individual customers having less or none of them. Does that sound far to you? My question is when do customer win over corporations? This change among many others in the past prove never. I've said enough, probably wasting my breath in the first place.

I am associated with the secondary market in domain names. I am against the proposed price increase to .COM domains. No one other than Verisign want increases in .COM prices. The current rate of $7.85 is already far more than justified. Verisign is merely your manager of the .COM Registry – it has no business dictating the price. Hello, I would like to voice my opposition to Proposed Amendment 3. I believe that the global DNS registration system should be run primarily as a public concern. The only entities that stand to benefit from the proposed arrangement are verisign itself, at the expense of the public. These price hikes will impact the millions of small, independent businesses and developers that rely on the system as is to make their livelihood. Further, this could prove yet another point of pressure that convinces a small business to make their online presence exclusively in the Facebook walled garden and eschew the web itself. The web, and global DNS, were envisioned to be run for the public good, and they SHOULD be run for the public good. Deals such as this are an abdication of that mandate; short sighted profit chasing at the expense of all else. Please do not adopt this proposal.

Not every .com domain is a business. I host my personal blog at .com with zero price benefit. This year on year increase will make me give up on this domain. Please help us retain the domain by keeping the price affordable. Cheers, Sumit
