Diear Sirs or Madame; The proposed increase in charges for domain registry will be a burden on the millions of older citizens who regularly use a domain. Many of us try to supplement our incomes with small, ecom domains that help bring in extra income. Most of these do not generate significant income but enough to help us cover month to month expenses. Increasing the cost of domain registration would represent a burden on these people to the point that they might have to close they're domains down. Please reconsider this proposed action. Taking the words from a friend who explain exactly my position: I oppose Amendment 3 to the .COM Registry Agreement. I believe that allowing wholesale prices for .com domains to rise 72% over 12 years, which is far more than the rate of inflation and also far more than Verisign's underlying costs of maintaining the registry could possibly increase by, will dramatically hurt the internet ecosystem. It will especially hurt small website operators, like myself, and will discourage internet users from creating blogs and personal pages, with the end result of reducing democratization of the internet. Verisign reported a 69.4% operating margin in Q1 2019, so they clearly do not need the extra revenue from this price hike. ICANN has granted a monopoly over .com to Verisign and ICANN has a duty to every internet user on the planet to carefully regulate this monopoly to prevent abuse by Verisign. The only conscionable thing to do right now is to freeze wholesale .com prices and re-evaluate 5-10 years from now. A policy that allows price increases tracking the rate of inflation (but no higher) may make sense in the future, but right now Verisign is already collecting far more from their .com monopoly than any company would be able to in a competitive market. It's simply not right to allow them to raise prices at this time. Thanks a lot.

I am writing in opposition of this move with Verisign, as it both a) was made without community involvement in any way and b) directly affects registries that were designed to be for community usage. We strongly object to the proposed amendments: 1. Proposed Price Increases - The .com TLD is a legacy TLD recognized internationally for trade and business related information, and an essential commodity for businesses trying to break into international markets. As a legacy TLD, .com domains should always be affordable to everybody across the world. 2. Verisign cannot operate as a Domain Registrar without gaining an unfair advantage over other registrars. It is of great concern that Verisign can bribe ICANN in an attempt to hijack and capture the world's foremost TLD.

Dear Sir/Madam, I own a .com domain and operate a small business which has a limited budget. I cant see any good reason to increase .com domain prices which will only result in the wealthy having more access to .coms whilst the less wealthy suffer. Please reconsider the proposals and keep .com domains within the reach of the ordinary guy. Sincerely, Gary Partington

To create a proposal or plan without getting input from the people it effects is the first clue your proposal is not created in the best interest of others. This proposal is unnecessary and should not be implemented. PRICE INCREASES are not needed. I hold no hope that my comment will make much difference in this unnecessary money driver proposal. Hi, It is apparent that ICANN does not want to have a transparent process in its decision process and only consider the interests of its own leaders instead of the general interest of the public. This is clearly shown by the management of the .ORG as well as the newly released information regarding .COM domains. Interests from for-profit organizations are currently setting the agenda and make the decisions that will have ramifications of significant portions of the Internet. If ICANN cannot do a better job, then it should be removed and the stewardship of the Internet should be handed over to a new organization, e.g., the United Nations. Kind regards, /Magnus
