As a .org and arguably the group that should be most aware of its purpose, I am extremely disappointed, that you are not only willing to accept what is basically a bribe, but will in turn pass this cost on to everyone else. It supposed to be for the people, and as a public body / NFP, this should be bloody obvious. Collaborating with a for profit company, even if they already control the TLD is sick. Accepting money to look the other way is not cool, in anyones book. Nicholas

Dear ICANN, This should not have happened. If there is something about the domain infrastructure that needs urgent maintenance, there is nothing that prevents you from at least clarifying the details of why the price increase is so urgent. Hello, I'm a com domain owner from Germany and got the news that ICANN forces increasing the price for com domains during the next ten years. I had the idea that ICANN is an organization to support the whole community of domain owners especially the com domain owners. I know there are many of com domain owners who are very angry about this and so am I. I beg you please to consider not let com domain prices increase in this way. That wouldn't be good in any way for a free and open web for everybody. I hear you are putting up the prices of .com domains This is not fair to us small businesses who already pay out a lot for marketing etc of our sites This will also discourage people from getting .com address and will look for alternatives If so then a change like that will affect our websites enormously if we have to change our domain names This is very sneaky and unfair I must object to this Also what will you be doing with all the extra money ???? Dear Sir, In our view, any price increase should first and foremost either reflect an actual increase in direct costs or be matched by an increase in the service level provided. In the present situation, the changes considered appear to be purely motivated by increasing profits and they have no tangible justification. As a result, we are fully opposed to these amendments. This is not an acceptable stance and such changes must be planned in consultation and agreement with the key stakeholders actually providing the DNS services to the domain name owners. No doubt a sign of the political times. Money, secrecy, power. I'd imagine there's a US class action lawsuit against a monopoly provider waiting to happen.
