Dear Sir/Madam, it has come to my attention that you are proposing an amendment to the .com registry agreement, which will entail/make possible significant increases in price for the registration of .com domains. I strongly oppose to this. Such a price hike will have very significant consequences to registrants in, e.g., third and second world countries. For companies and individuals in these countries, these hikes in price may prove prohibitive, effectively barring them from registering or holding on to .com domains. .com domains are the most widely recognised, and therefore, all should have equal access to them. The internet should remain a free and open space to all. I urge you to reconsider this move, and consider hiking prices for other extensions instead. I am a registrant of a .com domain name. I am against the proposed price increase to .COM domains. No one other than Verisign want increases in .COM prices. The current rate is already far more than justified. Given that Verisign does not provide any new service. It's a free milk cow for Verisign. Verisign built the software off registration fee so technically ICANN owns the Verisign software to manage domains. Verisign is merely your manager of the .COM Registry – it has no business dictating the price. ICANN is supposed to govern the domain name system in the public interest. PRESENCE deskMumbai, India

Dear ICANN I am a registrant of .com domains and I am writing to voice my opposition to Proposed Amendment 3. The web, and global DNS, were envisioned to be run for the public good, and they SHOULD be run for the public good. I quote for the ICANN website: 'Policy to ensure that the deliberations and decisions of ICANN are made in the interest of the global Internet community.' The proposed arrangement between ICANN and Verisign is an abdication of ICANN's mandate. ICANN is responsible for governing the domain name system in the public interest. Verisign is merely your appointed manager of the .COM Registry. By allowing Versign to dictate pricing for .com domains with an agreed price increase every year for the next 8 out of 10 years, ICANN is effectively selling off its responsibilities to Verisign. In return, Versign will be paying ICANN $20m over that period with no clear mandate as to how these funds will be invested for the great good of the DNS system or the Internet as a whole. No matter how this amendment is worded or marketed, it is a poorly, ill devised scheme that has no clear benefits for the global DNS system. Dear ICANN representative The proposed changes to the Verisign contract seem to be implying the possibility of significant price increases for .com domains. This means that accessibility to these domains will be restricted to more powerful enterprises, which, I believe, is a huge loss. Setting up internet infrastructure should be easy and as cheap as possible. Raising .com domain prices is sending the wrong signal and is inviting other tld registrars to raise their prices too. Although I am not personally operating a .com-Domain, I still feel this will be a significant issue to every internet user.
